Faces

Before I get to my actual post post I wanted to share how blessed we are to have Scarlett in our house. The happiness that follows her is overwhelming. The kids can't stop smiling and kissing her and Nathan is just so loving and happy all of the time. I thought I would be normal, like it's just another kid, but I find myself even staring at her so happy and filled with this great feeling like she has big plans for us. So far she has been sleeping 6 hours at a time at night. so we only have to get up once. It took her 4 days to figure out what family she was born into (a scheduled one) but now she gets it and we are so lucky! :)

Okay here we go...

I take all sorts of weird pictures of the kids so I can get random facial expressions for a book I am making (when am I not making a book?) anyway here are some good ones so far...

Lucas (WARNING its hard to tell if this is Lucas or Scarlett)
Bridget (NOTE...she blew up after 3 weeks like a puffer fish)
Scarlett (THOUGHTS..I think she has Bridgey's cheeks and Lucas's everything else)
Lastly, All of my kids have extremely LOOOOONG fingers. It is the first thing people say when they see my kids. It is a little abnormal but I like it so I think it's cute. Why do I mention this? Because for some reason they all play with their fingers like Mr. Burns from the Simpsons. EXAMPLE:Oh wow, I just noticed B and S are wearing the same shirt...crazy! I also like that Luca's wrinkly forehead and furrowed brow is mostly like Mr. Burns. HAHAHA I love that they are all the same in the little things that they do. I hope Scarlett gains some weight here soon, and that she is as caring and kind as her big brother. I hope that she has her own personality because she will need one to survive in this house! :) I feel so grateful to have 3 cute little ones and I just wanted to share.

Tres Wittes

Now that I have 3 little ones at home, (only since Sunday) people have been asking me how things are going. Well, right now things are great because all Scarlett does is sleep. The kids absolutely LOVE her. It is funny because I used to make fun of Kathy because her kids LOVE babies, but mine are completely head over heels for Scarlett!

If she is crying, Lucas says to her "Don't worry we are all here to take care of you"
Bridget gets a worried face and tries to fix it herself.

Scarlett is a content little thing being only 4 days old, and I am sure things will change since you know, they always do! She is only wide awake when the kids are around her, as if she knows that is the only way to get rid of them. If she is sleeping they try to entertain her so when she hears their voices her eyes are WIDE open to let them know she can see them and then they will leave her alone. Hehehe.
This is Lucas and Bridget first seeing Scarlett at the hospital...
These are a few pictures of what's been going on lately...you know in the 2 days we've all been home. :) I love Bridget's morning hair. Haha...As you can see they adore her! :)
Wish us luck week 3 and 5 are the hardest...I know; I've done this before! :)

Introducing...

Scarlett Marie Witte
Born March 6, 2009
at 11:20 am via C-Section
6 lbs 7 oz - 21 inches
The Birth Story:
Last day in Maternity Clothes!!!!
I had my 38 week check up on Friday 3-6-09 at 9:45am. I had mild contractions all night (what else is new) and at 3am woke up Nathan and told him I had a funny pain on my left side. He looked at it and said there was nothing there. I woke up at 6:50 and showered and the pain was worse. I thought that I should call the doctor to see if I could try and come in earlier but didn't have high hopes. I described everything to her and she told me to go straight to Labor and Delivery because she was already there. I got to L&D and she felt around and said she is in a funny position, lets check it out. Sure enough Scarlett was butt down hands and feet were up in the air together, I guess she thought she needed to be in position for her Daddy to catch her like Bridget! :)

They tried to turn her but no dice and at 8:15 they decided to do a C-section because I was so far along and could deliver any minute. My C-section was scheduled for 9 but was moved to 11:00am. I started to get a little anxiety because I left my hairbrush at home and was not ready to do all of this that quickly, but then at the same time excited to meet this baby even though I would have crazy hair. My in laws came to pick up the other two hoodlums, and then we waited in the room. I called some people to let them know and then it felt real.

I got into the Surgery Room and was ready for my spinal. I had to go alone because they don't let the Daddies in until you are ready to be cut. I was crying a little because the Anethesielogist looked like the uni bomber and I was all alone. Everything seemed fine until I laid down and started singing Rockstar by Pink. The nurses were laughing at me and all I could remember was asking if Nathan could come in or if he had to watch through glass.
Nathan walks in with scrubs on, so happy to feel like a Greys Anatomy cast member and peeks over the curtain ready to give me a play by play. I think that is when I told him that I was mad for shaving because I didn't even need to worry about anyone holding my legs. Hahaha.
They cut me open at 11:10 she was out by 11:20 and that is the end of the story. Sorry it is so long, but I had to put my little twist on it to seem more exciting. :)
She came out and has Bridget's face but Lucas's coloring for sure. She has red hair, HUGE feet, and is skinny and long like the other two. She is tiny but they assured me its because she is 2 weeks early. I had a ton of water this time and that is why I was measuring so big. I am sad a little I didn't get to push her out but I feel like a million bucks! I am walking just fine and have only had to take one Motrin so far and don't even feel like I have just had a baby. They told me if I wanted to go home tomorrow morning I could instead of Monday night so we will see.

Okay, Okay the moment you have all been waiting for... PICTURES!!!
Her feet are BIGGER than Bridget's!
She is Looooong and skinny!
I love this picture!
She is as red as Lucas!
Nathan always gets to pick the name after the baby comes out we usually have 2 choices and then he is the final say. He said "Oh yea, she is my Scarlett" She gave him a funny look after he said it so maybe that means she is going to give us a run for our money. Hahaha
I finally got to hold her around 2:30. I look so high on drugs but I was actually feeling great and not high at all! :)

Dreams do come true!

For Lucas! This boy is OBSESSED with firetrucks, fire men, fire dogs, Fireman Sam, anything fire related. I am currently in this anti-nesting phase where I would rather be anywhere but my own house. Which means that the laundry isn't getting done, the dishes aren't getting done, etc. This also means for the children that they are having the best week ever because they are going all sorts of places that don't include sitting in a cart, or being super quiet.

I asked Rachel if she and the kids would like to accompany us to the Firefighter Museum in downtown Denver. She said yes and so goes our day. Lucas didn't really get where we were going until we walked inside the building.
He kept telling me over and over that there was an emergency and that the firefighters were going to come. I think he thought that we were in a fire station but that's okay. Lucas and Anna liked looking around at all of the fun antiques and then we spotted it...

The first play area. They had a dress up area and an open firetruck for the kids to play in. We spent a lot of time here...
Bridget also joined in on the fun...did I mention that she thinks she is as big as everyone else?
We then went upstairs and checked out the second play area which was dedicated to learning what to do in a fire, stop-drop-and-roll and a book and video area. They also had a computer station to play fire games on.
After that we went back downstairs for fire story time where the kids enjoyed 2 books about fire things and then they learned all about 911. Did I mention that Bridget thought this was especially for her? She waited her turn and everything!
After the museum we went to Civic Center Park and ate a picnic lunch and the kids had fun running around in the grass. We drove home and everyone took a GREAT nap. I am glad they came with us, and even more glad I wasn't alone at home! HAHAHA

Thanks Rachel, Anna and Issac for such a fun day!

Family Night

We had a fun day at another park this morning, took awesome naps and then picked up Nathan at the Park n'Ride and suprised the kids with Family Night at the pool. We grabbed a quick dinner and spent the evening at the Rec Center. We all got in for free so it was totally worth going! :) The kids had a great time.

We learned a few things about the children....
The best thing about getting ready for a swimming outing are the new shoes.
This was the best part for Bridget - well until we got there. She kept saying thank you over and over again because she LOVED these flip flops. It was almost weird how much she loved them.
We noticed that Bridget is losing her baby body, and that she is half fish. The girl basically was on her own the entire time. I thought she was drowning at one point but Nathan assured me that she was doing it on purpose.Lucas and Bridget went on the slide so many times, and loved to pull the cord to soak each other. It was hard to pull them away from this part of the pool. They liked having splashing contests and after I snapped this one it became more clear how much they look alike! :)
The last thing I learned was that I am too pregnant to go to the pool alone, and I am so grateful that Nathan loves to go and play with the kids, other wise I would have had a harder time getting them out of the pool. Luckily Nathan had things under control! HAHAHA

If any one ever wants to go swimming with us I get in for free at the Rec for life, something about a certain football player almost killing me in college. He claims he owes me, I am just grateful to live near his place of employment! HAHAHA Thanks Mike!

Lovely March

I mean could I ask for anything more? I am STILL pregnant after a loooooong night, we are so blessed with this beautiful weather (73 in Colorado), I have two great little kids who are such great friends, and a great park state! Colorado is loaded with tons of parks for kids of all ages to go and have fun and they are all so close to where we live!

I decided this morning at 7am that I would take the kids to the park, invited ward people and then packed a lunch. No one from the ward came, but I figured that they wouldn't. Oh well. We had a great time and made some new friends. We joined a Mommy playgroup and can't wait for that to start! Here are some pictures of the kids...
Lucas proved once again that he is not afraid of anything...
Bridget loved the toddler area, it was the first time I have actually seen her on her own, doing her own thing...We also had another lesson in sharing...
Then we fed the ducks and geese and came home to take a nap.
We stayed till 12 and I think I will plan another fun outdoor thing tomorrow...Whew! What a fun morning, I hope everyone has a great Monday!
